Adopting a Pet

Adopting a pet from Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society is easy. 

Take a look at our pet list to see who is currently available for adoption, and then come by the shelter to complete an adoption application or download the appropriate electronic or PDF version applications below. Electronic applications can be saved to your desktop and sent as an attachment to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. All animals are adopted to approved homes only. Please allow 24-48 hours for adoption applications to be processed. Please be patient as our adoption counselor is a volunteer and will contact you in the order that adoption applications are received. All adult animals will be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter; we make absolutely no exceptions to this rule. 

Please note the name and I.D. number assigned to the animal you wish to inquire about when calling, faxing, or e-mailing. 

Adoption Contract

After meeting your potential pet and completing the above appropriate adoption application, you will meet with an adoption coordinator. 

After your adoption application is approved, you will be required to sign an adoption contract. 

Please familiarize yourself with the contract in case you have any questions prior to signing it.
